The West Ham United ‘mole’ who is accused of leaking team sheets before manager Manuel Pellegrini tells the players has defended himself from the accusations on talkSPORT.

The Chilean was reportedly angered with a Twitter user under the handle @ExWHUemployee after he successfully ‘predicted’ 89 consecutive West Ham United line ups.

A report in The Times revealed the former Manchester City boss has made enquiries to find out where the leak is coming from as players allegedly find out if they’re playing or not before Pellegrini tells them.

However, the owner of the account (who wishes to remain anonymous) rubbished the claims when speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT and West Ham fan Ian ‘The Moose’ Abrahams.

“I think what it is is it that I’m just very good at putting together bits of information I hear,” he told Jim WhitE.

“I’m not a journalist, but I like to think I’m better than most because I get information, I piece it together and, being a massive fan myself, I can pretty much work out what the team is going to be.

“I think most West Ham fans can and I did an experiment a couple of months ago where I tried to predict the teams for the top four clubs in the country and I managed to get three of them spot on and one of them wrong by about one or two players.

“It’s just hearing bits of information and just using your common sense – this leaking and this mole stuff of how I hear the team before the players hear the team is just ridiculous reporting.

“I think it’s been a slow week for news, probably wanted another article to shame West Ham by and here we are.”

With a following of 50,600 fans, it’s fair to say @ ExWHUemployee  has become a cult figure among Hammers fans on Twitter.

Not only does he predict line ups for fans, he is also extremely reliable for transfer news.

But the account user was bemused by the report, and questioned the legitimacy of the original report.

He continued: “The fact that the article says that the team hear about the team four hours before kick off, well what are they doing all week with set pieces then?

“What are they doing in terms of setting up? That might explain why we’re bottom of the league if they only hear about the team four hours before.”

Former Arsenal man Perry Groves was in the studio alongside Bob Mills and both were left amazed at the consistency behind the ‘leaked’ line ups.

In fact, the only team he admitted to getting wrong in recent times was the line up against the Gunners – when Aaron Cresswell came in as a late replacement for first choice Arthur Masuaku.

Groves asked @ExWHUemployee if he spends many hours at the training ground to explain his incredible accuracy.

He added: “No I don’t! Lots of people are at the training ground as you know from being at the training ground yourself, there’s 40, 50 – maybe even more now at a training ground.

“These things get passed around and, at the end of the day, being a fan myself I only ever put news out that I see as undetrimental [sic] to the team.

West Ham – Any positive news

Once again, Hammers fans are already fearing the worst just four games into the new season

“I put it out at half one – the team sheets have already been exchanged at half one anyway so it’s not as if the opposition manager says ‘I can’t name my team just yet, I’m waiting for that Ex bloke to Tweet something then I’m going to start to consider my selection’

“And what are all these clubs paying scouts for then if my Tweets re this important? I think the whole thing is ludicrous.”

The Hammers face a difficult trip to Everton on Sunday and may be without new signing Jack Wilshere for the trip to Merseyside.
