And it is understood they will pay the £6million up front with the figure rising depending on various factors.
After joining the Hoops in 2015 from Dundee United, Armstrong scored 17 goals in Brendan Rodgers’ first season in charge of Celtic.
Armstrong has won four Scottish Premiership titles at the Glasgow club.
