Searches are continuing in the Lagan around Belfast harbour after a report of a man falling into the water.

Police, Lagan Search & Rescue and the Coastguard have been carrying out searches on the river since Thursday morning.

The PSNI said searches were continuing on Friday.

A police statement said: “Police responded to a report of concern for the safety of a man close to the Lagan Weir in Belfast around 10am on Thursday, March 1.

“Officers are currently carrying out a search of the area in conjunction with a number of agencies including Lagan Search & Rescue and HM Coastguard. There are no further details at this time.”
