An anti-Islamic Northern Ireland Facebook page has been removed by the social media giant.

Exposing Islam Northern Ireland 2 had been promoting a screening of a movie organised by independent unionist Belfast councillor Jolene Bunting. It had also shared many of the councillor’s Facebook posts.

It appears the page was taken down late on Thursday with it’s last post, just before 11pm.

In a message from Facebook to a user who reported the page and seen by the Belfast Telegraph, the social network said it had removed the page as it had “violated community standards”.

Facebook has been asked to comment.
