Wave threat leads to evacuation of Ninian South platform in North Sea

Nearly 160 workers are being taken off a North Sea platform amid fears of huge waves in an approaching storm.

CNR International said it was taking the precaution on the Ninian South platform, which is 240 miles from Aberdeen.

It said there were safety concern over wave height during Storm Caroline which is due to hit Scotland on Thursday.

There were 159 people working on board the platform. CNR said no other installations were currently affected.
