Manchester United are reportedly plotting a £50million raid on Tottenham for Danny Rose.

According to The Sun, Jose Mourinho wants to sign the north London club’s left-back when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Rose has not played in the Premier League since the start of 2017 due to a knee injury but is back in training and close to a first-team return.

The 27-year-old had been in outstanding form prior to his injury setback and had established himself as England’s first choice-back.

Rose angered Spurs chiefs back in August when he gave an explosive interview criticisting the club’s lack of transfer activity and admitted he would be open to leaving.

He has since been left out of Tottenham’s official 2018 calendar and, with Ben Davies impressing in his absence, Mauricio Pochettino could be tempted to cash in.

And United are ready to pounce, with Mourinho eager to add a new left-sided defender to his squad.

Luke Shaw is now fully fit but Mourinho still has concerns over the 22-year-old’s abilities and has selected Ashley Young at left-back in recent weeks.
