Joe Gormley announced his return to the Irish League with a double as Cliftonville won an action-packed game against Ards 6-3 at Solitude.

Any fears that the Cliftonville forward had lost his touch during his injury-hit spell in England were allayed with his two-goal haul. Jay Donnelly also netted twice while Chris Curran and a Scott Davidson own goal helped their cause. Jonny Frazer had given Ardss a 1-0 win and netted again later in the game while Kyle Cherry was also on target for the visitors.

At Windsor Park, Niall Quinn scored one and set up another for Kirk Millar as Linfield won 2-0. In truth, it could have been five or six as the Blues dominated from start to finish.

A Curtis Allen double, the second a late one, helped Glentoran squeeze a 2-1 win over Ballinamallard, for whom Ryan Curran had opened the scoring.

Coleraine, despite going down to 10 men on 55 minutes with the scores at 0-0, earned three points at Dungannon. Steven Douglas was issued with a second yellow but Ciaron Harkin, Stephen O’Donnell and Ian Parkhill hit the net while new signing Ryan Mayse scored for the hosts.

That leaves just one more game to be played as Warrenpoint Town host Glenavon at 5.30pm.
